David had been thinking about his own funeral a fair bit in his final weeks, and wanted it to be a celebration of life. He chose the songs for the service, asked his friend Zia Ali, an interfaith celebrant, to officiate, and wanted the dress code to be party clothes and bright colours!
And most of all, he wanted us all to share stories with one another, of our experiences with him from the different parts of his extraordinary life, with music and dance to follow!
In other words, he wanted a soulful, joyful celebration of what he loved most in life... a quintessentially David-style funeral with joy and laughter as well as our tears.
Light snacks and refreshments will be available, however David also loved the idea of a bring-and-share feast provided by his friends. we’d be delighted if you felt able to bring additional cold buffet food and snacks to supplement those served at the reception. We appreciate this may be easier for people based near Edinburgh, so all contributions gratefully received!
David's impact on the world has been truly staggering with hundreds of friends and colleagues paying tribute to him. We are anticipating many people wanting to come together to celebrate his life , so if you wish to attend could you please RSVP below so suitable arrangements can be made.
